Tikkun olam (תיקון עולם)
is a Hebrew phrase which translates to "repairing
the world." The world that we encounter today is literally broken and in need
of repair. But how can one repair the brokenness of creation? Judaism believes that the world is broken by straying from God’s commandments. Therefore, in
obeying God’s Word one performs acts of tikkun olam, gradually returning the world to the form God originally
intended and completing the redemption of humankind as partners in God's creation. It is believed that acts of tikkun olam
should be the norm of daily living until the coming of Messiah and the inauguration of the Messianic Age.
The phrase tikkun olam is also used in
prayer. In the well known prayer,
the Aleinu, (second paragraph), we read; “l'takken olam b'malkhut
Shaddai,” "to repair the world in the Kingdom of God."
Yeshiva Tikkun Olam seeks to continue
the biblical mandate Yeshua faithfully practiced and imparted to His disciples, “to repair the world in the Kingdom of God”
by continuing the teaching of the scriptures with the clarity and insight that evokes the awe of the King and obedience to
His commands.
The primary mission of Yeshiva Tikkun Olam is to enhance the awareness and practical experience of a close intimate relationship with
God by gaining an understanding of our messianic hope from its root source, the
faith of Yeshua and His disciples.
